Course Description :

This qualification reflects the trade qualified role of a bricklayer, block layer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking heritage bricklaying, refractory bricklaying, bricklaying, block laying and paving work in residential, industrial and commercial contexts, in both existing and new constructions.

Course Structure:

In order to achieve qualification CPC33020 - Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, student must complete following 28 unit of competencies.

  • 20 core units, plus

  • 8 elective units

Training and Assessment (1300 hours)

The volume of learning for the qualification is 1300 hours. This comprises of:

  • Learning Hours- 544 hours (272 hours of theory training and 272 hours of practical training)

  • Assessment Hours- 416 hours (124 hours of theory assessment and 292 hours of practical assessment)

  • Independent Study, work on assignment & research- 340 hours

This will be delivered over 52 weeks of course duration including 48 weeks delivery plus 4 weeks holidays. Students are required to attend a minimum 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.

Assessment Methods

All assessments of units of competency will be conducted according to the assessment guidelines and competency standards of the official Training Package for this qualification. Assessment methods include Practical demonstrations, Projects, Knowledge Tests etc.

Pathways from the qualification

After successfully achieving this qualification, candidates may undertake CPC40120 - Certificate IV in Building and Construction.
